Studio to the Street:
Marketing Your Music in a Digital Age

Articles | About Chris

Hi! Chris Knab here. I am writing to let you know about a very special music business workshop I am doing August 2nd and 3rd in Cannon Beach, Oregon as part of Portland State College’s “Haystack Conference”. I will be joined by Internet music promotion wizard David Nevue, author of How To Promote Your Music Successfully on the Internet for the two day intensive workshop called “From the Studio To The Street; Marketing Your Music In A Digital Age.”

We will be working 8 hours each day with you, giving you solid information and tips on how to prepare, promote, distribute and sell your music over the Internet and through time-tested traditional methods. If you are tired of conferences and workshops that only give you an hour’s worth of clichéd information, than this event is just for you. David and I have planned out a series of talks and demonstrations on how to get your music ready for the marketplace, and take charge of your own career.

Everybody that registers before June 30th will get 2 FREE books as a special bonus and incentive for you to come to this unique workshop. You will get a personally autographed copy of my book,
Music Is Your Business: A FourFront Music Marketing Handbook, and David’s book How To Promote Your Music Successfully on the Internet.

If you have never been to the glorious Oregon Coast, this is your chance to spend a weekend at the beach, and treat yourself to an in-depth workshop on the business of music, at the same time.

Topics to be discussed over the weekend are:

  • Who is your fan/customer, and how can you most effectively reach them?
  • What is necessary to record, design, and manufacture your own CD?
  • What kind of airplay, online and offline, is available to you these days?
  • Where can you sell your music on the Internet and through other music retailers?
  • Can live performance enhance your chances for success?
  • What should an effective press kit contain, and how do you write a Bio, and a Fact Sheet about yourself?
  • How to build a web site designed to maximize CD sales
  • How to take credit card orders from your site - in just 15 minutes!
  • How to optimize and register your web site for search engines
  • How to build a street team of fans, put them to work, and keep them energized!
  • Little known marketing secrets that will easily double your CD sales!
  • 10 things to do right now to improve your Internet sales

The cost of the two-day event is $220. For more information, or to register contact Elizabeth Snyder at 503-725-4186 or email her at snydere@pdx.edu You can also get more information from their website.

BONUS incentive: A walk on the beach is guaranteed after each hard-working day!

Hope to see you there!
